Limbering Up

We're now at the back end of January and so it's time for me and MOL to make the next exciting announcement of 2012: an art show début, with me as one of the featured artists. It's been in the pipeline for a few weeks now, but until it was all confirmed with Liza, the organiser, I couldn't quite let myself believe it was real. But it is (eee!), and so next weekend, I will be showing about 20 of my photographs at the Bizarre Bazaar & Fashion Show, amongst a plethora of creative, talented artists of many genres. I am really excited about being asked to participate - not to mention ridiculously pleased! - and the prints in question are currently winging their way to my place so I can work on how to best present them.

If you are around in Charlotte next Saturday evening from 7-10PM and can make it to Studio1212 in Plaza Midwood, it would be wonderful to see you! There's a whole host of exciting performances and demonstrations going on, as well as the more static art forms; tickets are $15 at the door, and the proceeds go to Burners Without Borders.

Guest Blog Spot At skytemedia

The first of the exciting 2012 developments is that I have been asked to write a regular guest blog for skytemedia, a web design company that's been going since 2006. Josh Gutteridge, the creative director, asked me to start out by introducing myself, and then over the next weeks (and hopefully months!) to post about photographic techniques, specialities, styles, locations, and generally being a freelance photographer. I am so excited about this opportunity to share my passion and explore the theory behind the practice in written form, and am looking forward to putting MOL's dexterity to use in a new environment. Please have a look at the first post here or by clicking on the image caption below, and take some time to look around Josh's website, too.

New year, new posts, new camera!

It's been a bit quiet here on the MOL blog, which admittedly is for some very good (happy!) reasons, but things are gradually starting to calm down, so more frequent updates are likely to start flowing in this month. There are some exciting things coming up for 2012, the first of which begins tomorrow, so look out for a post around lunch time, GMT. On top of that, there's a new "limb" in the form of a beautiful Nikon, so I'm becoming better friends with her right now, and getting to grips with the new layout and functionality of a higher-end camera.

So, until tomorrow, then!
